Mockingbird Speech Therapy serves children, preschool aged through high school and also adults. She is passionate about early intervention and how it can be life changing for many children and families struggling with communication differences. Through the development of highly specialized and individualized programs, you and your family's communication journey will be fully supported. Mockingbird Speech is committed to keeping a small caseload, so that each client receives a highly focused and individualized communication program that goes beyond treatment.

Kara worked for 15 years as a Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist in the public schools of Central Texas. There, she saw the struggle that students with communication difficulties had in navigating the public school system. She learned how hard the families and teachers had to work to advocate for their children. As the Director at Bilinguistics, Kara worked with incredibly resilient students with diverse communication needs, innovating and developing programs and materials that previously did not exist for her bilingual students.

Kara is a native Texan, born and raised, now residing in Austin, TX with her husband and two young children. She began her career at Easter Seals Central Texas, a group that services thousands of Central Texans with disabilities. This opportunity made a lasting impression on Kara. The amazing clients and families she worked with taught her how much life can be impacted when communication is difficult. This experience sparked her passion for providing holistic and comprehensive speech therapy, understanding that all language processing is interconnected and early intervention can prevent reading and processing problems in early elementary school.

Kara is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist accredited through American Speech and Language Hearing Association. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas. She is an avid Longhorn fan, forever bleeding burnt orange. Also, she holds a Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX.
